The ravens black against a grey sky circle keeping vigil with death over the villages. The steppes stand barren her soul still vertile only covers the hungered who lay emaciated void of life never to be loved again only remembered. Fathers, mothers brothers, sisters being returned to the land that once fed them nurtured them. Their souls lay in wait. Freed from their bodies by Stalins hate. From this sacred soil life will bloom again. Songs will rise above the Steppes its melody FREEDOM |
