Duma 1996
The mist
spirite from
horses nostrils
blanketed the steppes
in the coolness
of a quiet dawn.
The clanking
of bridles
and hoofing of horses
echoed in the
stillness
of the sunless morn.
Mykola
eased himself
in his sadddle
astride his nervous mount
he crossed himself
making sure
Death
did not sit
beside him
to cheat him of
Glory
and the Victory
of Battle
on this
the most holy of morns
