Ukrainian Canadian Alumni
at U of M Homecoming
A committee of representatives from
Ukrainian Canadian departments at the University
of Manitoba
and its graduates are planning to celebrate a weekend of mutual exchanges and
fellowship, April 30 to May
2, 2010. In conjunction with Manitoba Homecoming
2010, it is hoped that some 250-300 graduates of Ukrainian Canadian ancestry
will participate in the 3-day affair. Highlights of the weekend include Pig
Roast BBQ, panel discussions, sharing circles, honouring distinguished
alumni, concert, worship service and luncheons.
The University
of Manitoba
has had students of Ukrainian ancestry from the early 1920s and has produced an
outstanding crop of graduates in nearly all faculties and departments.
The departments involved in
planning the alumni homecoming are the Centre for Ukrainian Canadian Studies,
German and Slavic Studies, St. Andrew’s College in Winnipeg,
International Office, Slavic Library, the Archive of the Ukrainian Canadian
Experience and Alpha Omega Alumni Association.
