UCC President Influential on Canada’s Foreign Policy

Paul Grod, National President of Ukrainian Canadian Congress

Ottawa – In the March 28, 2012 issue, Embassy, Canada’s Foreign Policy newsweekly, rated Ukrainian Canadian Congress National President Paul Grod as being among the “top 80 individuals influencing Canada’s foreign policy.”

Embassy broke down the list which included politicians, civil servants, foreign diplomats, business representatives, academics, diaspora groups and NGO representatives.

The newspaper’s list included Paul Grod, and stated: “A lawyer and head of an energy company, Mr. Grod since 2007 has led the UCC, which represents many in the 1.2 million strong Ukrainian-Canadian community, concentrated in the Prairies. The Prime Minister last fall attended a UCC dinner in his honour, and his Caucus members are eager to attend UCC events to show support for the large and well-established Ukrainian Canadian community.”

“It is always nice to be recognized for our efforts on behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian community,” stated Grod. “It re-affirms that the hard work of our branches, committees and member organizations along with our Executive Director Taras Zalusky and the National Office is making a difference with Canada’s top decision makers. Such influence would not be possible without the assistance of thousands of dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our donors - to whom we are extremely grateful.”
