In Memory of Edward Lysyk
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Edward Lysyk on April 3, 2014. During his last moments of life he was surrounded by his family in the Cancer Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife Janet, children Crystal (Renata), Kathy (Angus and granddaughter Norah), and Brian (Ashley). He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Marion, as well as his brother Mike. Survived by his brothers Tom (Peggi), Tim (Sophie), sister Patricia (Chris), sister in law Lana, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was born in Fort Smith, NWT on May 4th, 1953. As a son of an RCMP Officer, he lived all across Canada before settling down in Regina, Saskatchewan after he completed law school. Ed began practicing law in 1977, and made partner at Pedersen Norman in 1981 where he continued to work until retirement in 2005. During this time he had so many passions such as spending time with family, travelling, cooking, the outdoors, the Roughriders, volunteering, home improvements, gardening and being involved in Regina’s Ukrainian community specifically with the Ukrainian National Federation Hall.
He will always be remembered for his generosity, upbeat attitude and infectious sense of humor. He will be dearly missed, always loved, and never forgotten. Prayers will be on April 7th @ 7pm at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church (1747 Toronto St. Regina, SK). Funeral Service will be on April 8th @ 10am also at Saint Basil’s. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for a Ukrainian Education fund that will be created in his honour with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Regina Branch (Box 4032, 1-1801 Winnipeg St. Ph # 306-757-8835).
