Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce Opens Kyiv Office

On Friday, April 24, 2009, The Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean and the Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine, His Excellency G. Daniel Caron, along with members of the Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce from Canada and Ukraine, participated in the official opening of a CUCC branch office in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Following the branch opening, a luncheon was hosted by Canadian  Ambassador G. Daniel Caron for Governor General Michaëlle Jean and Canadians presently living in Ukraine.

The luncheon commenced with Canadian Embassy Commercial Attaché Michael Reshitnyk providing a brief biography of attending guests. This was followed by the President of the Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Zenon Potichny, sharing his observations and making a few encouraging comments. Ambassador Caron and Governor General Jean both encouraged a round table open discussion. The majority of discussions were concerned about the business environment in Ukraine as well as opportunities for Canadians in Ukraine and vice-versa, which then followed with an interesting discussion concerning the need for more student exchanges as well as mobility between Canada and Ukraine.
