Opening
of Teodozij and Luba Ihnatowycz Pavilion
Honouring
a Generous Gift to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in
Care Centre (Care Centre) in Etobicoke (Toronto) on May 25, an
exterior sign was unveiled which
officially opened the Teodozij and Luba Ihnatowycz Pavilion in
recognition of the generous contribution made by their son, Ian O. Ihnatowycz,
founder of Acuity Investments Management Inc. and his wife, optometrist Dr.
Marta A. Witer, who donated $1.5 million to the $9 million Home with a Heart
Campaign. Ian Ihnatowycz is also Chair of the Care Centre’s Home with a
Heart Campaign.
“This event marks a great milestone in the Care
Centre’s development. For many years to come, our community and our seniors
will benefit from the Home with a Heart Campaign and the enhancement and
expanded services we are now able to provide at the Care Centre”, said Sandy
Lomaszewycz, Executive Director of the Care Centre in her opening remarks.
“The Care Centre is an
important facility for our community, and we are pleased that we can give back
to our community. It is an honour to have my Mother’s and Father’s names
associated with the Care Centre and the tremendous care for seniors that is
given each and every day”, said Ian Ihnatowycz.
“It is no doubt that Ian’s leadership made the Home
with a Heart Campaign the great success it is. One thing I learned is that
the commitment and passion of the leadership is what makes a campaign”, said James
Temerty, Co-Chair of the Home with a Heart Campaign. He congratulated
Ian on his outstanding generosity and successful accomplishment of the
campaign.
Ian Ihantowycz credited his accomplishments to
his parents and their values. “My parents were representative of a generation
that went through many hardships. That was a generation that took great pride
of what they achieved together. It is important not only to succeed but
contribute and make a difference”, said Ian Ihnatowycz.
“Ian’s
visionary leadership acts as a catalyst for others in their community, showing
us the way and showing others the way”, said Alexander Daschko, President of
the Board of Directors of the Care Centre.
