Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship
at
the Humber School
for Writers in Toronto,
July 2011
Since 2006, the Shevchenko
Foundation offers the KOBZAR Writer’s Scholarship for the Summer Workshop in
Creative Writing at the Humber
School for Writers. This scholarship is awarded annually to a
Canadian writer with an advanced manuscript on a Ukrainian Canadian theme. In
2011, for the first time, two scholarships are being offered. These full
tuition scholarships are intended to assist the writer to complete his/her work
for publication. The theme can be presented in one of several categories:
poetry, fiction or non-fiction, short story.
Scholarships are available to
those who apply by June 3, 2011

To apply for the Kobzar
Writer’s Scholarship, please submit application using forms and criteria
provided on the Humber website. State prominently your intent to apply for
the Kobzar Scholarship in the cover letter of your application. Please include
two identical copies (no more than 15 pages each) of an excerpt from your work
of non-fiction, fiction, poetry or short story for assessment. Please ensure
that pages are numbered, double-spaced in 12-point font, and that your name
appears on each page. Include two copies of a cover letter that tells a little
about yourself and your writing experiences.
