Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship at Humber Workshop

The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko presents the Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship & Marsha Skrypuch at the Humber School for Writers in Toronto, July 11-17, 2009.

The Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship shall be announced soon, awarded annually to a Canadian writer with an advanced manuscript on a Ukrainian Canadian theme. This full tuition scholarship is intended to assist the writer to advance his/her work toward publication. The theme can be presented in one of several genres: poetry, young readers’ fiction, fiction, plays or non fiction.

For Writer’s workshop registration, apply and enrol before June 30. Each applicant must satisfy the admission requirements for the Humber School for Writers. The scholarship application deadline has passed June 10 and the committee’s decision is still to be announced. A $200 penalty will be charged for withdrawal before July 2, 2009. No refund will be issued for withdrawal after July 2, 2009. Tuition includes classes, panel discussions, writing life sessions, lunches, and afternoon coffee breaks. Marsha Skrypuch has been a professional writer since 1988. She is best known for writing historical fiction for young adult readers and for speaking at schools, libraries and conferences across Canada. Among her publications are:
