Van Loan and Ostash
Discuss Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Negotiations
Ottawa – On June 15, 2010, Dr. Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada met with the Honourable
Peter Van Loan, Canada's Minister of
International Trade.
The main topic of discussion was the course of
bilateral free trade negotiations. Minister Van Loan and Ambassador Ostash
noted that it was both in Canada’s and Ukraine’s mutual interest for
the successful completion of these negotiations, as soon as possible.
In addition, the results of the Canada-Ukraine
Business Forum that took place in Edmonton, Alberta from June 10 to 14 were
reviewed. The significance of such a forum and its positive impact on the
development of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Canada was evaluated and
remarked upon. Both parties expressed their content with the signing at the
Forum of a memorandum on the renewal of the Cooperation Agreement between
Ivano-Frankivsk and Alberta.
