James Temerty, C.M. announced as Festival Parade Marshall at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival in Bloor West Village  September 18 – 20, 2009

The Toronto Ukrainian Festival Organizing Committee is pleased to announce businessman and  philanthropist James Temerty, C.M., as the Festival Parade Marshall for 2009. Mr. Temerty joins the ranks of other marshals such as former Prime Minister the Right Honourable John Turner, Rock ‘n’ Roll Legend Randy Bachman, Senator Raynell Andreychuk and MP Gerard Kennedy.

His long list of accomplishments include serving as Chair of the Royal Ontario Museum Board of Governors, during which time he played an instrumental role in bringing to Toronto the exhibitions: “Legacy in Gold, Scythian Treasures from Ukraine”, and “Mysteries of Ancient Ukraine: The Remarkable Trypilian Culture”.  These two outstanding exhibits were sponsored by his company Northland Power Inc.  James Temerty was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in May 2009.

In its 13th year, the Toronto Ukrainian Festival, September 18-20, 2009 continues to be one of the most anticipated events of the season. Four Points Sheraton to be Host Hotel at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival in Bloor West Village

The Festival Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that The Four Points Sheraton Lakeshore will be the 2009 Host Hotel for the Toronto Ukrainian Festival, September 18 – 20, 2009. The hotel is located at the foot of Windermere Ave. on Lakeshore Blvd. West facing Lake Ontario. It is a 20 minute walk up Windermere Ave or a short 5 minute bus ride to Bloor Street West Village and the Festival site.

The Valhalla Inn, which is closing in August, has served as the Festival host hotel for many years. “We thank their management for hosting our many performers and Festival attendees so well over the years” said Olya Grod, Festival Vice President.
