Ukrainian Canadian Congress Congratulates Advisory Committee Vice Chair
Ledohowski On Appointment As Honorary Consul
Winnipeg, Manitoba -
July 26, 2011 - The Ukrainian Canadian Congress would like to
congratulate the Vice-Chairman of the UCC Advisory Council, Mr. Leo Ledohowski
on his appointment by the Government of Ukraine as Honorary Consul of
Ukraine in Winnipeg.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian
community, I would like to congratulate Leo Ledohowski on his appointment as
Honorary Consul in Winnipeg.
Leo has worked with the Ukrainian community to achieve a lot in terms of the
understanding and recognition by the government of Canada of the Holodomor as
genocide,” stated UCC National President Paul Grod. “As Vice-Chair of our
Advisory Council, Leo plays a prominent role in the Ukrainian Canadian
community’s plans to ensure that the Holodomor is properly recognized in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and in our
upcoming Tribute to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.”
Leo Ledohowski has been involved in
the worldwide recognition of the 1932-33 Holodomor in Ukraine as
genocide. He was a producer of film “Vichna Yim Pam’Yat” documenting stories of
Holodomor survivors. Mr. Ledohowski is actively involved in the campaign for a
permanent exhibition on Holodomor in the Canadian Museum
for Human Rights.
Mr. Ledohowski will perform his
duties of Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Winnipeg
for three years, until July 12, 2014.
The UCC Advisory Council is comprised
of prominent and exemplary supporters of the Ukrainian Canadian community who
provide on-going advice and support to help the Congress and by extension the
community to realize its potential and ensure its future success. The Advisory
Council provides strategic advice to the President and Executive Committee of
the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
