Ukrainian Independence Flag-Raising at Queen’s Park

Toronto - On August 24 at 12 noon, a flag-raising ceremony on the grounds of the Ontario Provincial Parliament - Queen’s Park marks the 19^th Anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

The event is organized by the Canadian Conference in Support of Ukraine (CCSU): League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC); League of Ukrainian Canadian Women (LUCW); and Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada (SUM). The event is supported by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Toronto Branch.

Honoured guests include members of provincial and federal parliaments, Ukrainian government representatives, the consular corps, church and community leaders.

Oleh Romanyshyn, President of LUC, noted: “We look forward to our continuing consultations and coordinated efforts with the Government of Canada to affect tangible progress in securing a bright future for Ukraine and its people.”

CCSU member organizations promote educational and cultural projects that help raise awareness of Ukraine’s history, and keep our fellow Canadians informed about developments in Ukraine. The CCSU promotes Canadian values within a spirit of friendship and partnership between Canada and Ukraine, including people-to-people relations.
