On
This attractive monument
consists of four bronze figures: a young and proud Taras Shevchenko, and three
figures from his literary works: Kateryna, Haidamaky and Bandurist
(Kobzar). The sculptures were created by
the renown Ukrainian-Canadian sculptor Leo Mol and the elegant design of
granite bases by the recognized Ukrainian-Canadian architect Radoslav Zuk.
The monument will serve as lasting
tribute to the contributions of more than 1.2 million Ukrainian-Canadians
in the founding of this great nation.

by the Ottawa Shevchenko Monument Committee in partnership with the Embassy of
Ukraine and support of the Shevchenko Foundation, Ukrainian Canadian Congress,
and the Ukrainian community of
We are in the final phase of
our fundraising drive to raise the remaining $50,000 required to complete the
project. We need your support now.
This is an excellent
opportunity to be associated with an important Ukrainian-Canadian heritage
project and a monument you can proudly take your family and friends to visit.
If you have not seen the monument, we encourage you to visit the site and
seriously consider becoming a donor.
There are three levels of
giving:
• Benefactors $500 - $4,999
• Patrons $5,000 - $9,999
• Founders $10,000 plus.
By making a donation at one
of these levels, your name, the name of a loved one, family or name of an
organization will be engraved on special plaques affixed to the donor
wall. Donations under $500 are also
welcome and will be recognized on the website and, along with all donors, in a
souvenir booklet and newspaper ads to be produced this year.
