CUPP
Interns in Ottawa
The Canada Ukraine Parliamentary Program (CUPP) 2012 will have 33
participating student interns, who will be arriving in Ottawa on September 15.
Their extended stay on Parliament Hill working in assigned offices of Members
of Parliament and Senators will provide them with experience and insight into
Canada’s parliamentary process and governance.
Tentatively planned for November 14th,
they depart Ottawa for Quebec City, Montreal, and Toronto. Then, they depart
Toronto on November 22 for Kyiv and participate in the Model Ukraine
Conference at the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Allan Rock,
President of the University of Ottawa, is the Keynote Speaker.
Among students with more unique
backgrounds are two students from Georgia who are sponsored by the East-West
Foundation. One Ukrainian student is from Irkutsk, Siberia. Another student is
from Belarus who has written an interesting article about Ukrainians in
Portugal. Some others include three from CUPP 2011 - Ustyna Mykytyuk (Lviv),
Olya Shudrak (Berlin) and Oleksandr Zheva (Kyiv).
It is anticipated that the CUPP 2012
interns will meet with the participants of “Canada’s Parliament Education
Forum” organized by the Paul Yuzyk Institute for Youth Leadership, which takes
place in Ottawa, October 3-7.
