Community Proud of Son – Myroslav Chwaluk

Myroslav Theodore Chwaluk is the son of Zenon and Orysia Chwaluk, long-time members of the Ukrainian National Federation and Ukrainian Women’s Organization – Toronto Branch. Myroslav was born in Toronto and completed his public schoMyroslav Theodore Chwalukol education graduating with honours from Etobicoke’s Richview Collegiate in 2001. Myroslav subsequently completed his bachelor’s degree at Trinity College, University of Toronto, graduating with an Honours B.A. in International Relations in May 2006.

Myroslav was accepted to the University of Windsor Law School and graduated in May 2009 in the top 15 % of his class.

It was during his public school years at Islington Middle School that Myroslav developed his love of volleyball. At the Ontario Summer Games of 1998 in Guelph, Myroslav was a member of the gold medal-winning Bantam Volleyball Team. He was a member of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Volleyball Team for three years, winning two provincial championships. He also played one year for the University of Windsor Lancers while at law school.

During his university years, Myroslav was actively involved in many facets of student life including the Ukrainian Students’ Club and was the University of Toronto representative to the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of which he is now a member. He worked as a student member service representative at Ukrainian Credit Union, and also as a weekend manager and at the UNF Trident Banquet Hall.

Myroslav has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, among them the Eugene and Elinor Kotur Scholarship (Ukrainian Fraternal Association Scholarship), community service award from Ukrainian Credit Union, UCPBA Scholarship, the University of Windsor Lancers Blue and Gold Scholarship for academic and athletic excellence, and in his graduating year, the John H. Rodd K.C. Award for the highest standing in Conflicts of Laws.

Myroslav had the privilege of being a summer student (2008) and most recently an articling student (2009-2010) with the law firm of Cassells Brock and Blackwell, LLP. Myroslav has completed the requirements for admission to The Law Society of Upper Canada and was called to the Bar on June 16, 2010. He has accepted a position at the Cassels Brock commencing in September 2010.
