Central and Eastern
European Commerce Initiative
September
10, 2009 – The Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce
(CUCC) in partnership with the Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce (CPCC) showed
unity as they participated in the launch of the Central and Eastern European
Commerce Initiative in Toronto.
The Commerce Initiative event was held at the pristine lakefront Polish
Consulate property, and unified the various attending European communities in a
proposal for bilateral trade and investment between Canada and
Europe.
The Honourable Stockwell
Day, Minister of International Trade was in attendance and gave a speech to
commemorate the occasion.
Minister Day discussed Canada’s
involvement in the European Union and echoed the need for the Canadian
government to further encourage business development and stimulate trade
between Canada and
countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
Similar opinions were shared
by both Consul General of Poland Marek Ciesielczuk, and Consul General of
Ukraine, Oleksandr Danyleiko, who also spoke at the event.
In addition to acknowledging
the presence of viable business opportunities and budding commercial
opportunities across Central and Eastern Europe,
the Central and Eastern European Commerce Initiative looks to expand on Canada’s
aggressive free trade strategy and promote countries in the European
marketplace as a formidable economic resource to Canada.
