UCC Election Observer
Mission a Success
Orysia Sushko, Head of Mission, UCC President
Kyiv, Ukraine,
October 3, 2007. The Ukrainian Canadian
Congress Election Observer Mission for the September 30, 2007 Parliamentary
Elections in Ukraine
has successfully concluded. The observers returned to Kyiv and reported their
observations, relating information from their specific areas and unique
circumstances. All of these are being
documented and will be included in the final report, which will be published
after all the information is tabulated.
The observers returned from
their assigned locations with a feeling of having accomplished what they set
out to do – observe the election process and document any encountered
infractions. All are well and, as Canadians who value their democracy, are
pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in the election process in Ukraine.
The Mission
formally concluded on October 3 with a debriefing session followed by a
reception at the Canadian Embassy hosted by Canada’s
Ambassador to Ukraine,
Her Excellency Abina Dann.
Sincere gratitude is
expressed to Ambassador Dann, the Kyiv team, UCC Headquarters in Winnipeg and all who in
any way assisted in making this Mission a tremendous success.
