Foundation for Ukrainian Studies, and the Ukrainian Art Song Project. Invited

(Duquesne), Dagmara Turchyn, Rada Stankovych (Tchaikovsky Academy, Kyiv).
Lysenko, an enormously influential and prolific 19th-century composer, is
regarded as the founder of the art song genre in Ukraine. Free and open to the public.

the Soviet Famines, 1931-33” by Andrea Graziosi (University of Naples, Italy). The
lecture will discuss the relations between the pan-Soviet 1931–1933 famines,
Stalin’s decisions and policies in Moscow, and local
conditions. A discussion of the genocide issue followed by thoughts on the
Holodomor’s consequences for Ukraine.

documentary film on the 1932-33 Famine-Genocide in Soviet Ukraine, produced and
directed by filmmaker Yurij Luhovy. The film is based on recently uncovered
archival documents, interviews with historians and first-hand accounts by
