The John Stetch / Jan
Jarczyk 2-Piano Duel
It’s been 20 years since
jazz-pianist John Stetch played his McGill graduation recital with his former
“Professor” Jan Jarczyk. They team up once again for an evening of fun-filled
2-piano music. Originals, jazz standards and neo-classical free-improvisations
are played with an often telepathic fervor, radiating harmonic and rhythmic
democracy. Both of these award-winning
pianists have made a successful career out of their love for solo piano and melodious
free-form improvisation, and now combine their talents for uncommon event in
the piano-music scene.
This concert made possible by The Canada Council for the Arts.
“Canadian John Stetch is one of the most brilliant and underrated
jazz pianists working today. In a perfect world, he would be more famous than
Wynton Marsalis.” Clavier Magazine
“Jan is a pianist with great erudition and a fine sense of
form…remarkable – one of the top players in the country.” Music Forum Magazine
Concert – November 8, at 8 pm, The Glenn Gould Studio,
