Vesnivka Choir Generously
Gives Back to Community
Toronto’s award winning Vesnivka Choir with
the Toronto Ukrainian Male Chorus performed for residents, family and friends
of the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre (UCCC) and St. Demetrius Residence at the
UCCC in Toronto’s Etobicoke. The Choir’s
performance featured many favourite traditional and classic romance songs,
tangos and waltzes written by J. Vesolowsky that were thoroughly enjoyed by
residents and families alike.
The October 18 Sunday
afternoon performance is part of Vesnivka Choir’s long-term commitment to
community giving. Apart from love and passion for music, the choir members
share another common bond - a conviction that charitable work enriches the
well-being of the community. In January 2009, Vesnivka gave another special
Christmas Concert of Carols and Schedrivky for the residents at the
UCCC.
In May of 2009, the
Vesnivka Choir and their ensemble members assisted in the planning and
implementation of the UCCC’s ‘An Affair of the Heart’ fundraising gala which
raised $155,000 for the Centre. Before
the performance, the cheque was presented by Vesnivka founding conductor and
director Kvitka Kondracki, gala co-chair Myroslawa Diakun, and gala co-chair
and board member Donna Ihnatowycz to the UCCC’s Executive Director Sandy
Lomaszewycz.
