In Memoriam – Professor Yarema Kelebay

Winnipeg - It is with great sorrow that the Ukrainian Canadian Congress advises of the passing of Professor Yarema Kelebay on November 3, 2008,  after a battle with metastatic cancer. “I speak on behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian community when I say that we have lost a true leader of our community and someone I considered a dear friend” stated Paul Grod, President, Ukrainian Canadian Congress. “Professor Kelebay will always be remembered for his great contribution and dedication to our community. My heartfelt condolences pour out to his family and friends.”

Dr. Kelebay was a Professor at McGill University in Montreal and served in a number of leadership capacities, including as Member of the National Board of the Directors, Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), President of UCC Quebec Provincial Council, Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Canadian Taras Shevchenko Foundation, President of Prosvita Lachine (Que.), President of the Ukrainian-Canadian Professional and Business Association of Montreal, and advisor to the McGill Ukrainian Students’ Club, among others.
