Autumn Art Show at St.
Elias
The First Annual St. Elias Autumn Art Show and Sale was held on Oct. 24, 2009. The magnificent Boyko Style wooden church,
located in Brampton, Ont. (Heritage Rd. and HWY 7), northwest of Toronto,
hosted 15 exhibitors, including Sunflower Gallery, Katherina Osadchuk,
Andrij Terebushko, Victoria Kovaleva, Maria Antoniv, Olena Berezovsky, Darka
Kardash and Lesia Bien. The Show featured work by prominent artist Lesha
Kokosky who painted “Sunflower Energy” especially for the St. Elias Show! The
creative talent of Oksana Basczynsky, I. Kryslatch, Peter Shostak and many
others were displayed for the visitors. Several non-Ukrainian artists and
artisans were very pleased to show their work in such a beautiful, welcoming
venue. Bev Morgan’s exhibit of poppies in watercolours attracted everyone’s
interest! Pastor of St. Elias Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Roman
Galadza, was pleased that the Show was so successful for building church
community. Marianne Sorokowsky of Brampton commented that “There
was something for everyone”! Nadia Pelensky of Etobicoke noted that “The
setting for the Show was intimate and one had much time to visit with the
artists and discuss the beauty of their creations.” Visitors purchased raffle
tickets for the great prizes donated by local businesses and friends of St.
Elias Parish. The church loft was a popular spot for enjoying delicious
homemade sweets and coffee, especially by the fireplace!
Next year’s St. Elias Autumn Art Show and Sale will be held on Oct. 23
and 24, 2010.
