Borys Wrzesnewskyj, MP for Etobicoke Centre, his mother Irene, sister Ruslana, and niece Petra Wrzesnewskyj-Cottrell unveiled a photograph of Grand-Uncle Mykhailo and Grand-Aunt Yaroslava Szafraniuk at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in Toronto on November 13, 2010. In recognition of the Wrzesnewskyj Family’s $500,000 donation, the Care Centre named its Second Floor in honour and memory of the Szafraniuks.

“It is an honour and a great privilege to make this financial donation to the Care Centre on behalf of my family’s foundation, Dopomoha Ukraini.  Representing all my family, I know each one of us will be most pleased that our gift will help better the lives of those most in need in the days to come. Long may the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre be a sanctuary of care and a beacon of hope in our community,” said Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

Three generations of the Wrzesnewskyj Family have worked to establish prosperous and innovative businesses such as Future Bakery and M-C Dairy. Dopomoha Ukraini Foundation was created to provide assistance to the many community, humanitarian, and Ukrainian heritage organizations here in Canada and in Ukraine.

“The Wrzesnewskyj Family are wonderful supporters of the Care Centre and the Ukrainian community.  The Foundation’s gift was a catalyst for others who have supported our recent campaign and instrumental to funding the expansion and upgrade of our long-term care home.” said Sandy Lomaszewycz, Executive Director.
