Memorandum on Cooperation between Zhytomyr and Saskatchewan

On November 21-25, 2010, a delegation of officials and farmers from Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine visited Saskatchewan.

The main result of the visit was signing a Memorandum on Cooperation between Zhytomyr Oblast and the Province of Saskatchewan. The agreement marked the establishment of collaboration in the agrarian sphere. It envisages the exchange of knowledge and professional expertise in livestock operations, agricultural technology transfer, promotion of agricultural fairs and expos, agri-business development and management, and the promotion of direct contacts between public and private organizations in the agricultural sector. The potential of substantial cooperation was noted in areas such as: investment; labour, employment, and human resource development; education and culture; and tourism.

During the visit, the Canadian Western Agribition was attended. Meetings with Saskatchewan provincial officials and with the leadership of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Saskatchewan Provincial Council also took place.
