Grammy Nomination for Ukrainian, Roman Klun

Roman Klun, multi-platinum award-winning engineer, producer and nominated songwriter, has been nominated for a Grammy Award this year for “Best Engineered Album.” The record “Swan Feathers” features songstress, Leslie Mendelson, signed to Rykodisc Records, New York. The Grammy is the recording industry’s most prestigious award and is presented annually by The Recording Academy. The Academy’s voting membership awards a Grammy to honour excellence in the field of recording arts and sciences. The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards and the ceremony will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, on January 31, 2010, and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Roman Klun headed-up several projects that became industry winners and nominations at the Grammy’s, Juno’s, Genie’s, Gemini’s, JPF’s, and the Unity Awards and was recognized by the AES (Audio Engineering Society) for his work in 5.1 Surround Sound.  By invitation, RK has juried industry producer/songwriter and engineering panels.

As a songwriter, Klun has recently completed his 3rd solo album entitled “Kingsway”, predominantly written in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The record was officially released at three showcases in New York and Klun opened for legendary Grammy award-winning rock band drummer, vocalist and actor Levon Helm.

Roman Klun has also produced and engineered many records with The Canadian Bandurist Capella, operatic bass-baritone Pavlo Hunka, Ukrainian Vanguard Ensemble, Ron Cahute & Burya and was also the Producer and Director of FestUkraine at Paramount Parks – Canada’s Wonderland.

Roman is the son of Jackilyn and Jaroslav Klun who was born in Western Ukraine, a choreographer who founded the dance group in the Ukrainian National Federation’s ‘Chaika’ Ensemble in Hamilton, Ontario. He has travelled the world conducting workshops of Ukrainian dance with Roman’s sister, Nadia Klun Stadler. We extend sincere congratulations and continued excellence to this artistic family.
