UNF of Canada Appoints Executive
Director
The UNF of Canada Board of Directors is pleased to announce the
appointment of Toronto-native Olya Grod to the newly-created position of UNF
Executive Director effective February 1, 2010. Olya is a graduate of
the University of Toronto and brings a wealth of
both business and not-for-profit experience to the position. While Olya has
lived in Toronto most of her life, she
also lived in Saskatchewan for 11 years between
1979 and 1990. Olya is a Board Member of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress -
National, chair of the Committee for Justice - UCC Toronto Branch, Board Member
of the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund, Vice President of
the Toronto Ukrainian Festival, and was Kyiv Office Manager of Canadian
Election Observer Missions to Ukraine in 2004, 2006 and 2010.
Olya started her organized Ukrainian community life as a member of the
Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM). Prior to assuming her new position, Olya
worked as a Vice President of Ontario Flower Growers Inc, and Project Director
for Flowers Canada Ontario. The new UNFExecutive Director role will be key in
bringing greater efficiency and consistency to UNF national programs,
strengthening coordination with the national executives of our affiliated
organizations and UNF Branches, and to bring to fruition phase one development
plans for the UNF’s Paul Yuzyk Institute for Youth Leadership. The UNF of
Canada Board of Directors and all members join in welcoming Olya Grod to her
new leading role in our organization.
