15th Toronto Ukrainian Festival Returns to Bloor West Village

The annual Toronto Ukrainian Festival in Bloor West Village is set for Friday, September 16 and will run through Sunday, September 18, 2011. Located on Bloor Street West between Runnymede and Jane TTC stations, this event attracted 514,000 people in 2010, eager to experience a new culture, get in touch with their roots or just be part of one of the city’s best annual street festivals.

With its goal of being bigger and better every year, the 2011 Festival will be especially grand, as it celebrates the 120th Anniversary of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada as well as its own 15th anniversary.  Visitors travel from across Canada and the United States to take part in this weekend-long extravaganza of activity and jam-packed schedule of events. There is already a buzz of anticipation for any word on the headline performer.

The Festival features world-class entertainment, savoury traditional Ukrainian cuisine and international delicatessens, awe-inspiring musicians and dancers in costumes that dazzle, a Midway filled with games for children, a colourful parade, and vendors offering cultural treasures, fine jewellery and many other goods.  Each evening ends with a “Zabava” where you can dance under the stars to a live band right on the street. A team of diligent and determined volunteers works its magic to showcase a Ukrainian-Canadian experience you will never forget!

Be “Ukrainian for a Day” in one of Toronto’s finest neighbourhoods. Relax in the beverage tent, saunter and shop through the bustling streetscape, and let the vibrant energy that Ukrainians are known for lift your spirit. See you there!
