UWC President Discusses Importance of
Ukraine’s Euro Integration with EU Officials
(UWC) - On 25 February - 1 March, 2013, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij travelled to Brussels, Belgium, on a working visit.
During this visit, the UWC President will meet at the European Parliament with high-ranking European Union officials to discuss the importance of expediting Ukraine’s Euro-integration. Discussions will focus on issues related to the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the adherence of Ukraine’s governing authorities to fundamental European values, and the danger of Ukraine joining the Customs Union.
The UWC recently wrote to EU leaders calling upon them to expedite Ukraine’s Euro-integration and to President Viktor Yanukovych calling upon him to take concrete steps in this regard.
The signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2013 is critical to the region’s security, stability and prosperity, while providing a strong stimulus to democracy and social progress in Ukraine.
In a Kyiv Post article earlier last week, commenting on his plans to be in Brussels on the occasion of the Summit, UWC President Eugene Czolij was quoted as saying, “We will be asking the European leaders to accelerate (Ukraine’s Euro-integration), and to clearly, in the meantime, reiterate in no uncertain terms, that the EU is very much interested in Ukraine.”
The EU-Ukraine Summit [working session occurred] February 25, 2013.
