Petro Lopata
The legacy of Ukrainian Canadian Senator Paul Yuzyk will soon not be forgotten, now that an entire web site dedicated to him is available on line. The Senator, born in 1913 in the small prairie town of Pinto, Saskatchewan later came to be revered as a champion of Multiculturalism, Human Rights and Ukrainian Issues. Paul Yuzyk was appointed to the Canadian Senate in February 1963 by then Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, thus becoming the first Ukrainian Canadian to join the Upper Chamber. Credited with designing Canada's famous multiculturalism policy, he died July 9, 1986 after succumbing to cancer.
With pages available in French, English, and Ukrainian, the site represents a rich resource with plenty of photographs, articles and information on Paul Yuzyk, who was founder and first president of the Ukrainian National Youth Federation.
