Second Ukrainian Dance Networking Session

Walter Maceluch

The participants at our 1st sessions in Hamilton on 23 June 2001 asked for another, bigger and better session.

In Hamilton we had 32 participants, representing 10 different dance groups from across Canada. The idea behind the sessions was to provide the opportunity for representatives of the various Ukrainian dance groups to meet, get to know about each other, and to develop contacts. This was accomplished and it was agreed that a follow-up session should be organized.

We are expanding the number of dance groups that we will invite to over 22, which will include 9 groups from Toronto. However, the networking event is open to representatives from any Ukrainian dance group operating in Canada. Our hope is that at least two representatives from each dance group will attend.

The program will consist of an introduction of each group, a brief presentation by each group and an open discussion at the end. The sessions will be held on Saturday, September 14, at the UNF Toronto Hall at 145 Evans Avenue (just east of Islington and south of Gardiner Expressway). Sessions will start at 9:30am and end at 2pm. A light lunch will be provided. There will be no cost to participate, as the sessions are sponsored by the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada.

The networking sessions take place the weekend of the Bloor West Village Ukrainian Festival, so for those dance groups coming in from out of town, the occasion provides an excellent opportunity to participate in both events.
