(NP) Ukrainians are invited to join in a pilgrimage tagged Walking with Christ that will visit a number of the Greek Catholic rite churches in Toronto on June 22. Participants will walk with a 4-metre wooden cross, entrusted to the worlds youth in 1984 by Pope John Paul II. The cross, which has made its way around Canada since April 2001, arrived in Oshawas St George Ukrainian Catholic Church on June 5. Students at Toronto area Ukrainian Catholic schools will be visited by the cross on June 21, and later that day, it will be at Holy Dormition Parish on Cawthra Rd in Mississauga. The following day, the relic will wind its way across the city of Toronto proper, carried from George Chater Park in Bloor West Village all the way to Holy Eucharist Parish on Broadview Ave in the citys east end.
