Ivanka can add one more honour to her many accolades. The Mayor of Barrie, Jim Perri had proclaimed August 16 as an Ivanka Day in the City of Barrie.
“I urge the citizens to take note of this special day in celebration of Gryphon Theatre’s 33rd Season. Ivanka has graced Gryphon’s stage two times in the past and is also returning this season from August 14 to 31 with a double bill,” said Mr Perri.
Gryphon Theatre is presenting two Ivanka musicals this summer: “Ivanka Delivers the Goods – a TV-shopping adventure from August 14 to 24 and “I Can Sing! (Can’t I?)” – an interactive lesson in the history of vocal music, playing from August 26 to 31. “The City of Barrie is proud to support the multi-talented artist Jo-Ann Waytowich and to promote her work locally. On behalf of the City of Barrie, I would encourage you to support Gryphon Theatre by attending the highly entertaining Ivanka performances”, said the mayor.
“Ivanka” was delighted to learn that she has been recognized in such a special way. “I am so happy that it is an Ivanka day. In Slobjev every day is an Ivanka day. There we fly the Slobjev flag, eat perogies and love life. Thank you Barrie for making an Ivanka day. So, put on your finest polyester dress, and come to the Barrie City Hall on August 16 to celebrate me, and my identical twin sister Marusia. Free perogies to all!”
The official ceremony will take place August 16 at 10am at Barrie City Hall. Festivities will include the raising of the National Slobjevian Flag and lots of free perogies. The Mayor of Barrie, Jim Perri, Ivanka and Marusia will be in attendance.
