Toronto’s Ukrainian Festival Gears Up For 2002

(11/28/01) Billed as North America's largest Ukrainian street festival, the Bloor West Village Ukrainian Festival committee today honoured the volunteers and sponsors that helped make this year a successful story of growth and at the same time began laying the groundwork for the next one, scheduled for September 13-14, 2002. The launch party was held at one of the festival's sponsors, the Lviv Restaurant-Club, found at the edge of the famous Bloor West Village. Attending the celebration were some notable locals, including the Globe and Mail's Victor Malarek, BWV Business Improvement Association president Alex Ling, City Councillor Gloria Lindsay Luby, Acuity Investment founder Ian Ihnatowycz, Northland Power CEO James Temerty, Dock Edge owner Wally Swez, and violinist Vasyl Popadiuk, who helped give away a ticket to Ukraine provided by festival sponsor Air Ukraine. Although unable to attend, it was announced that CFRB morning host Ted Woloshyn will be next year's parade marshall.
