General Information

VISA ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CITIZENS OF CANADA
  • On July 26, 2005, the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 1134/2005 "On the introduction of a visaless regime for citizens of Canada", which implements a visaless regime for entry into Ukraine for citizens of Canada.


    • VISA ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CITIZENS OF JAPAN
  • On July 19, 2005, the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 11107/2005 "On the introduction of a visaless regime for citizens of Japan", which implements a visaless regime for entry into Ukraine for citizens of Japan.
  • This normative act was enacted to develop and effectuate the practical realization of the principles of a partnership between Ukraine and Japan, and is guided by the aspirations to simplify the travel regime for the citizens of the two countries and to foster bilateral contacts in all spheres of mutual relations.
  • The Decree establishes that effective August 1, 2005, citizens of Japan may enter Ukraine or transit through its territory with valid Japanese passports for travel abroad without a Ukrainian visa for a period of up to 90 days.
  • The provisions of the Decree do not apply to those citizens of Japan who are proceeding to Ukraine for the purpose of study, employment or work with the diplomatic and consular representations of Japan in Ukraine, or for any other purpose if their stay in Ukraine will exceed 90 days.


    • VISA ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
  • On June 30, 2005, the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 1008/2005 "On the introduction of a visaless regime for citizens of the United States of America", which implements on a permanent basis a visaless regime for entry into Ukraine for American citizens.
  • This normative act was enacted to develop and effectuate the practical realization of the principles of a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States of America, and is guided by the aspirations to simplify the travel regime for the citizens of the two countries and to foster bilateral contacts in all spheres of mutual relations.
  • The Decree establishes that effective July 1, 2005, those American citizens who enter Ukraine within six months after a previous trip to Ukraine or transit through its territory with a valid American passport for travel abroad, may do so without a Ukrainian visa for a period of up to 90 days.
  • The Decree provisions do not apply to those American citizens who are proceeding to Ukraine for the purpose of permanent residence, studying, employment, or work with the diplomatic and consular representations of the United States of America in Ukraine, or for any other purpose if their stay in Ukraine will exceed 90 days.


    • VISAS: VERY IMPORTANT.
  • On March 31, 2005, the President of Ukraine signed Decree No. 569-2005 "On the temporary implementation of a visaless regime for citizens of member nations of the European Union and Swiss Confederation", which implements a visaless regime for entry into Ukraine for citizens of these countries during the period May 1, 2005 to September 1, 2005.

  • This normative act was enacted for the purpose of effectuating the required preparation for and organization of the international singing contest "Eurovision - 2005" in Ukraine, creating favorable conditions for entry in Ukraine of the organizers, participants and guests of this event, and also to expand tourism.

  • The requirement for immigration visas continues in effect pursuant to the existing Ukrainian legislation.

    • VISAS: VERY IMPORTANT.
  • AS OF APRIL 1, 2003, THE CONSULAR SECTION DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY DELIVERIES BY PUROLATOR AND DOES NOT USE PUROLATOR TO RETURN DOCUMENTS.

  • AS OF JUNE 15, 2004, THE CONSULAR SECTION WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY DELIVERIES BY UPS AND WILL NOT USE UPS TO RETURN DOCUMENTS.

  • BECAUSE THE CONSULAR SECTION HAS RECEIVED A DISHONOURED CHECK FROM A TRAVEL AGENCY, AS OF JUNE 15, 2003 THE CONSULAR SECTION WILL ONLY ACCEPT CERTIFIED CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS FROM ALL TRAVEL AGENCIES.

  • IF A CLIENT CHOOSES TO RECEIVE HIS OR HER DOCUMENTS BY WAY OF CANADA POST, WHICH IS RECOMMENDED, THE CONSULAR SECTION MUST BE PROVIDED WITH A PRE-PAID SELF-ADDRESSED RETURN ENVELOPE. IF NONE IS PROVIDED, THE DOCUMENTS WILL BE HELD BY THE CONSULAR SECTION GRATIS UNTIL SUCH TIME AS,
    (A) THEY ARE PICKED UP IN PERSON BY THEIR OWNER OR DESIGNEE, OR
    (B) A PRE-PAID SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE IS PROVIDED FOR THEIR RETURN.
         NOTWITHSTANDING, IF A CLIENT CHOOSES TO HAVE THE DOCUMENTS RETURNED BY WAY OF A COURIER SERVICE, OTHER THAN PUROLATOR OR UPS, HE OR SHE WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THE CONSULAR SECTION WITH THE COURIER SERVICE ENVELOPE, A FULLY COMPLETED WAYBILL, BEARING THE RECIPIENT'S ACCOUNT NUMBER OR CREDIT CARD NUMBER IN THE APPROPRIATE SPACES OF THE WAYBILL, AND SIGNED BY THE RECIPIENT IN THE SPACE DESIGNATED FOR THE SENDER'S SIGNATURE. THE CLIENT SHOULD ALSO PROVIDE A SIGNED STATEMENT TO THE EFFECT THAT THE RETURN DELIVERY OF THE DOCUMENTS HAS BEEN PREPAID. THE CLIENT WILL THEN NEED TO CONTACT THE CONSULAR SECTION BETWEEN 5:30 P.M. AND 6:00 P.M. TO CONFIRM THAT THE DOCUMENTS ARE READY FOR PICK UP, AND IF SO, TO MAKE THE APPROPRIATE ARRANGEMENTS WITH ANY COURIER SERVICE, OTHER THAN PUROLATOR OR UPS.
