International Forum on Economic Cooperation

Kyiv, 5-7 December 2001

In support of the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv City State Administration, the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Association of Ukrainian Cities, the Organisational Committee of the "Golden Book of Ukrainian Elite" National Project and a number of other organisations on 14 July 2001 the President of Ukraine has issued the Regulation No 191/2001 on holding the International Forum on Economic Cooperation, one of the largest complex business events in Eastern Europe, annually in Kyiv within the first ten days of December.

According to the Regulation, the Second International Forum on Economic Cooperation “Partnership in the Name of Harmony and Development” will be held on 5-7 December 2001, the main objective of which is to inform Ukrainian and foreign business circles of priority spheres and the most promising directions of the national economy development, popularisation of competitive products, state-of-the-art technologies and developments, attraction of investments.

The Forum is an integral part of the "Golden Book of Ukrainian Elite" National Project. Its co-organisers are the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv City State Administration, the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Association of Ukrainian Cities, “ZLAHODA” All-Ukrainian Association of Democratic Forces, “INTELLECT OF THE NATION” Ukrainian Society, EUROIMAGE Company, the International Trade Club in Ukraine, “PERSON OF THE YEAR” National Programme, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of Businessmen of Small, Middle and Privatised Enterprises of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Association for Quality.

The Organisational Committee of the Forum is chaired by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Anatoliy Kinakh. The EUROIMAGE Company was appointed the general executive of works over the project.

The following events will be held within the Second International Forum on Economic Cooperation “Partnership in the Name of Harmony and Development”:

• The Day of Ukrainian Regions;

• “Ukraine Offers Cooperation” Inter-Industry Exhibition of Goods and Services with “Industry of Ukraine: Investment Potential” special exposition;

• Presentation of the "Golden Book of Ukrainian Elite" information and image anthology;

• Festive ceremony of awarding the “Golden Trade Marks” National Contest winners.

The Day of Ukrainian Regions provides for its participants a possibility to present their products and establish partner ties with leading Ukrainian and foreign companies. The Day of Ukrainian Regions is a perfect opportunity for manufacturers, businessmen and entrepreneurs to get new and necessary information about each economic partner and prospects of fruitful cooperation. Participants of the Forum will be invited for participation in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, presentations and press-conferences aimed to provide business circles with comprehensive information for establishing direct contacts, holding effective negotiations and making contracts, advantageous for both parties.

“Ukraine Offers Cooperation” Inter-Industry Exhibition of Goods and Services, organized after the European fashion will work during the Forum in the “Ukaina” National Palace and “Ukrainsky Dim” Arts Palace. A special contest will be held among participants of the exhibition for the best exposition design and originality of products presentation. The winners will be awarded Honorary Diplomas. “Industry of Ukraine: Investment Potential» special exposition will be opened at the exhibition of national manufacturers of goods and services. The purpose of the exposition is to provide national and foreign investors with complete and comprehensive information of promising enterprises and industries.

The festive ceremony of awarding the “Golden Trade Marks” National Contest winners will be held within the Second International Forum on Economic Cooperation “Partnership in the Name of Harmony and Development”. The Contest will present the best trademarks, which have gained recognition due to the high-quality products and services. This contest will give opportunities to win popularity and enhance market demand for the products presented under the trademarks submitted for the contest. Independent experts will determine Leaders in special and industry nominations. Each winner will get the “BUSINESS-OLYMPUS” Exclusive Golden Trophy and the Honorary Diploma. The“Golden Trade Marks” Catalogue and a video film will be made to ceremony of awarding the winners.

Presentation of the "Golden Book of Ukrainian Elite" information and image anthology will become another large-scale and festive event within the Forum. The pages of this unique edition will tell about the best representatives of the political, business, administrative, scientific, military and creative elite of Ukraine.

"Golden Book of Ukrainian Elite" information and image anthology is aimed to present comprehensive information of each branch of our economy, namely, of well known electric power and oil refining enterprises, banks, industrial and agricultural enterprises, particular manufacturers, to be short — of those who strive to work in compliance with European and international standards.

The information and image anthology will be published in the Ukrainian and English languages, it will have an electronic version on CD’s and on the Internet. Besides, the “Golden Names of Ukraine” video film, image-calendar for the year 2002 and “GOLDEN BOOK” Web-portal will be made.

The fact that authoritative national and foreign politicians, heads of ministries and departments, local authorities, representatives of independent public organisations, branch and creative unions, trade missions of foreign states, representations of world and European institutions in Ukraine will take part in the events of the Forum attests to its national status.

Taking into account the above-mentioned and taking into consideration the importance of the Forum and the level of the representation of the Ukrainian side, the diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad are asked to:

- promote dissemination of information about the Forum in the host country’s government and business bodies.

- study the possibilities of participation in the Forum of state and business representatives of the host country and promptly inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
