There are quite a few font standards available to display Ukrainian Cyrillic Text. To date we are aware of five distinct standards and they are as follows: the KOI-8 font standard, the Code Page 1251 standard, the DOS alt CP866/AV, the Apple Cyrillic standard, and the ISO 8859-5. The KOI-8 standard appears to be the most dominant standard on the Internet News groups and on World Wide Web Pages. This appears to be the case because it is the one font standard that is available to all computer platforms, i.e. DOS, Windows 3.X/95, Apple, UNIX, and X-Windows.
