Both Lenin and Stalin created famines which cost millions
of lives. Khrushchev's 'virgin lands' scheme ended in
ecological devastation.  Now, increasingly, the power to
create ideological disasters is spreading to industry.
Gorbachev has been hurrying all over Russia demanding that
managers make the maximum use of high technology to promote
efficiency.  Scared for their jobs and possibly their 
lives managers are doing as they are bid.  The result is
Chernobyl.
