FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | June 28, 1999 |
TORONTO - Even bigger than last year's event, Knyhy Pid Shatrom / Ukes.in.Print '99 celebrates Ukrainian culture through the printed word. Under our 20 by 50 foot tent, you'll find dozens of vendors offering new and collectible books, CD-ROMs, books for children of all ages, Compact Discs, audio and video tapes, magazines, and much more! Choose from hundreds of books in English and Ukrainian on art, music, literature, poetry, politics, history, Ukrainians in Canada, and, of course, Ukrainian cooking.
With something for everyone, Knyhy Pid Shatrom / Ukes.in.Print will feature special author readings and book-signings for the grown-ups, and special events and play time for the kids. And make sure you show up hungry, since Hanya's Cafe will be on hand with delicious food at a reasonable price.
Scheduled to perform at this year's Knyhy Pid Shatrom / Ukes.in.Print is world-renowned pianist John Stetch. Acclaimed for his jazz repertoire, Mr. Stetch has played at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and has recorded five CDs since 1991, including Kolomeyka Fantasy, Rectangle Man, and Carpathian Blues, which was called "Impressive" and "Well worth acquiring" by Jazz Times Magazine. Mr. Stetch, who resides in New York, will be present at our wine reception, and available to sign copies of his CDs.
Due to anticipated demand, tickets will be available for sale two weeks before the event at the Library, Ukrainian National Federation, 297 College St., Toronto. Tickets for John Stetch will also be for sale on September 26, but we suggest buying in advance, since seats are limited for this special performance.
Knyhy Pid Shatrom / Ukes.in.Print is a fund raiser to help benefit The Library, Ukrainian National Federation.
