TORONTO - Award-winning New York based jazz pianist John Stetch is set to take the stage at this year's Ukes.in.Print for one performance only, on Sunday September 26 at 4 p.m. Winner of the Priz de Jazz at last year's Montreal International Jazz Festival, Mr. Stetch is considered "A pianist who seems destined to join the ranks of Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones" by Maclean's Magazine, and one of the "10 young lions of Canadian Jazz" by en Route.
Mr. Stetch originally hails from Canada. He has recorded five CDs, including Kolomeyka Fantasy, Rectangle Man, and Carpathian Blues, which was called "Impressive" and "Well worth acquiring" by Jazz Times Magazine.
A reception will precede Mr. Stetch's performance, and he will be on hand afterwards to sign copies of his CDs.
Tickets for the performance will be available at The Library, Ukrainian National Federation, 297 College Street, Toronto, on Friday September 24, from 1 to 9 p.m., and at the door on the day of the performance. Tickets prices for the performance and reception are $10, and $25 for the performance, reception and a CD.
