TORONTO - Eager to get your work published, but don't know where to turn? This year's Ukes.in.Print book fair offers aspiring writers and illustrators the opportunity to get the inside scoop from artist Halina Below and author Marsha Skrypuch on Sunday September 26.
HALINA BELOW is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, and has worked as a graphic artist for several publishers. She is the acclaimed illustrator of Moon Lake Loon Lake -- Where Only The Elders Go (Penumbra. 1994), Just Imagine (Fitzhenry & Whiteside, 1998), and The Best Gifts (Fitzhenry & Whiteside, 1998). Halina's seminar is entitled "From Words to Pictures: An Illustrator’s Journey." During the seminar, Halina will discuss how to prepare and present your portfolio, working with authors, what makes a good illustration, how to sell your work, and much more.
MARSHA SKRYPUCH is the author of the award-winning children's book Silver Threads (Penguin Canada, 1996), The Best Gifts (Fitzhenry & Whiteside, 1998), and The Hunger, a novel for young adults. A resident of Brantford, Ontario, Marsha is actively involved in numerous writing groups. During her seminar, she will discuss how to write and polish your work, how to find a publisher, what to do when writer's block sets in, and much more.
