The first issue of Promin, a monthly literary journal, was published in January of 1965 as the official monthly journal of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada. Since that time the journal has gone through various stages of development to best serve the membership. The journal is now bilingual and is positively received both by the members of U.W.A.C. and beyond in Canada, Ukraine and the diaspora. The aim of Promin is to inform and serve as a communication link for Ukrainian women throughout the world and to ensure that the journal serves as the voice of its membership and reflects contemporary women's issues.This national women's periodical keeps Ukrainian women in Canada informed of current events, both within the Ukrainian community and around the globe, and features various issues and events of cultural interest. Our distribution is approximately 1600 with 90% of our readers in Canada and the remaining 10% in the USA and abroad.
